SERVICES OFFERED

In addition to research, the centre offers a wide range of laboratory detection services such as detection and serotyping of dengue virus by PCR, ELISA, and RPA (Recombinase Polymerase Amplification); bacterial identification by 16s gene sequencing, and antiviral screening. Towards ensuring that the centre provides quality services, TIDREC is an accredited testing laboratory for ISO 17025:2005 accreditations for the offered services. The centre also provides consultations and training modules on biosafety and biosecurity.

Antiviral Screening

of Your Compound of Interest

TIDREC offers services to screen and test your compounds of interest against our panel of viruses (Dengue, Chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis etc.).

Our in-house assays have been validated with proven pharmacologically-active compounds.

Available upon request. Please contact us for more information.

Biohazard Spill Kit

In-House Assembled Kit

Infectious agents are a constant risk if not handled properly. A duty of care involves having appropriate materials available to safely clean up a spill. A biohazard spill kit is an essential item if you want to conduct a practical work related with infectious agents.

TIDREC's in-house assembled biohazard spill kits come complete with everything you need to have an effective spill management system.

Bacterial Identification (16S rRNA Sequencing)

For many years, 16S rRNA gene sequencing methods has played an important role in the accurate identification of bacterial isolates and discovery of bacteria in clinical microbiology laboratories.

16S rRNA sequencing is particularly important in the case of bacteria with unusual phenotypic profiles, rarely isolated, slow-growing bacteria, noncultured bacteria and also can lead to the recognition of novel pathogens.

In addition, the 16s rRNA gene (1,500bp) is large enough for informatics purposes and presence in almost all bacteria.

Biosafety & Biosecurity

BSL-2 & BSL-3 Training & Consultation

Biosafety and biosecurity training is important to provide essential knowledge and skills for proper bio-risk management.

TIDREC's biosafety and biosecurity training program emphasizes a hands-on, practical and behavioral-based approach for administrators, scientists, laboratory personnel and students to ensure continuous adherence to the biosafety principles and practices.

The training program will have lecture topics such as the principles of biosafety and biosecurity, biosafety cabinet, management of laboratory risks, as well as practical sessions on biosafety practices and biological spill management.

Please check this page regularly or contact us for the training schedule.

Respiratory Viruses

Detection | Genotyping | Quantitation

Our in-house multiplex assay provides detection and genotyping of up to 12 respiratory viruses and subtypes: Influenza A (seasonal), Influenza A (pandemic 2009), Influenza B, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Bocavirus, Coronavirus, Parainfluenza A, B and C, Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV), Adenovirus and Rhinovirus using three different primer sets.
